For me it is painting. As a child, I always enjoyed painting and drawing. My mother, Margaret Quiring, was a gifted artist and a great influence. Although I have received no formal art education, numerous artists have encouraged me at workshops, sharing their ideas and their delight in seeing the world through an artist's eye. 

Of particular interest to me are landscapes, shorelines and "elderly" buildings. The prairies, where I grew up, and Nova Scotia, where I lived while teaching at Dalhousie University continue to find their way onto my canvases.
